A fun tiefling bard commission I completed recently!

Character: Kalikessa Crave, Tiefling Bard

Kalikessa Crave (also known as KC) is an emotional and sensual tiefling who lives among the creatures of the forest. Tossed aside as an infant and raised by a coven of witches, she was drawn to music, animals, and the power of the written word.

As she grew older, the witches urged her to find her druid-like magic in the forest, but she didn’t want to leave the excitement of the nearby village, Crystalis. In her early adulthood, KC began to become a problem with local families as she flirted with the local men. Many village women thought KC might be bewitching the men of the village, which led to her banishment.

So, KC she set out on a journey to discover her druidic potential. One day in the forest, KC heard an incredible sound: the mesmerizing strum of a guitar ballad. KC followed the sound to a human by the name of Kyle Cruise. The language was beautiful, though she did not understand it, and yet she knew it meant he loved her. After the instrument was put down, Kyle told her to sing for him. He strummed his guitar and KC belted out a ballad that would bring a tear to the eye of lost souls. After the last note, KC and Kyle became one. Kyle was very impressed, and slightly worried, about the experienced way about her. It was best not to question.

Kyle explained to KC that she was a bard like him. He told her he would teach her everything he knew and they would become famous. They spent the next year traveling, signing, selling music, and assisting many travelers with their bardic inspiration. They never did marry, though Kyle would have in a heartbeat. KC was a free spirit and needed space to roam, but they were the best team. However, one fateful night, Kyle died in a tragic event and KC, heartbroken, spent the next four years traveling from village to village by day, and living among the forest creatures by night. She sang, wrote poetry, stitched words into cloths and sold herself for coin. She had become rather chaotic. Her humor became sharp and crude, but she could keep silent and invisible if it was needed.

After a difficult battle against a halfling thug, she found herself wounded and completely disheartened, so much as so that she contemplated ending her life. But at that moment, she heart a small squeak, and looking up she saw an adorably heinous wharf rat. She adopted the rat, naming him Templeton, and together they crawled out of their desperate situation and found hope in life once again!

What do you think? :)

The tail playing the violin is inspired. That is awesome. I will be stealing this character for an NPC in my game on Sunday.

I love the design! I don't think I've ever encountered a tiefling bard, oddly enough.
