Scroll of the Jester

One danced alone upon the street,
and from the one came nine,
they shone in gaudy revelry,
cavorting, all entwined.

The people turned to stop and stare,
their interests all piqued,
ever entranced to see a show
as figures twirled and leaped.

Yet one by one the dancers fled,
each melting in the air,
but in their place came beams of light,
bright laughter, gaudy flares.

Some split their sides in roaring mirth
some joined the dance upon the lane,
all to the last they took a bow,
and then the nine were one again.
