Hi all!

For those who haven't heard yet, the book I've been working on since Spring 2021, Epithet Erased: Prison of Plastic, will be releasing on December 9th in hardcover, digital, and audiobook formats!

As far as I know, the audiobook will be releasing on Soundbooth Theater and purchasable versions of the book itself will be available on IngramSpark.

I've poured my blood, sweat, and tears into this thing over the last two years and let me tell you: I am so ready to be done with it, oh my god.

But, I'm not done with it! I still have to promote it, and to be honest... I'm not entirely sure how? I've got a nifty little animation for the YouTube promo that will be releasing on my main channel on launch day, but other than that, I'm not really sure what to do!

I would love some suggestions from you guys of fun little things I could do on Twitter, YouTube, and here to promote the book before its launch. I'm looking for quick and easy things I can do that don't require animating and don't require recording with the voice actors. Managing the launch and making sure everything is available for purchase is going to be a lot as is, so I don't want to burn myself out.

Here are some ideas I had as examples of the type of thing I would be able to do.

  • A big QnA/drawing stream with whatever crew members are available, like Bo and the other voice actors.
  • Releasing the first few chapters of the fully-finished audiobook on Patreon with small previews on Twitter
  • Making eyecatch bumpers for the S2 characters
  • Releasing character info cards with canonical info like birthdays, heights, etc.

Little things like that!

If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. See you in two weeks when I'm finally free!*

*NOTE: I will not be free. I have several months of backer rewards and stretch goals to work on.

A meet and greet book signing the day of? Could be a good way to see just how many people love this thing you created in real life, and see your work pay off! You could film the book signing and put it up as an advert. (Now that i think about it this is A LOT of work, sorry :( i dont know any small scale things that would boost sales or anything by a significant margin) Cool idea if you ever have the time and energy tho, if you do it later on when you don’t wanna die you could have the VAs that are able to make it to Texas there too

Maybe you could do a fan work contest! Lots of talented people love Epithet Erased and I’m sure offering the top ten a free copy of the book wouldn’t be anything to sneeze at for them.

jelloapocalypse

I don't have a physical copy of the book yet, the book is *first becoming* available to purchase starting on the 9th.

Definitely a countdown to launch stream if you can swing it. Generate a little hype that way. I think a good way would be to play some games or talk movies/shows/comics that inspired Epithet. Idk if you can swing it, but maybe do a big live stream with commentary over season 1 of Epithet (it'd be funny if it were like a roast, but since you're trying to sell a book maybe just talk about it while watching it on stream). Truthfully, there's only so much you can do to promote a book without taking out some kind of like ad. Someone said fanwork contest, maybe also cosplay contest?

Zeeme

Hm, How about making multiple Twitter accounts for the characters, and having them talk and comment on each others posts? Or maybe a chat-room style conversation picture between the girls and Giovanni as they are trying to escape Molly's sisters world? (Think Persona 5 Text Chains) Oh! Or maybe something story book styled? A simplistic looking drawing that shows some of the big points of either the main story, or maybe some lore about Epithets/ Jazz City. But page by page? and maybe with a simple rhyme to go with it?

I like the info cards and eye catch ideas. So excited for the book! It’s been a rough year and this is gonna be the pick me up I needed

Bersy

Gonna go off Josaihbostics initial idea here. What if when it came time to do the signing of the physical books you did a just qa live stream as you did it. It would be like the lemonade streams with the same decent into madness, but with more hand cramps.

Oooh I really like this one! You could combine it with the drawing stream and make it like a voting thing or something

Anonymous

Yeah!!I think talking about inspiration and stuff could definitely peak interest.

More epithet info cards are always fun, behind the scenes and story development talks always cool too! That’s what would interest me the most anyway lol. Obviously this doesn’t apply to this specifically but I think epithet having all these accompanying songs is really cool, and songs catch people’s attention. Weird comparison, but Like I know several people who found RWBY through edgy lyric videos and stuff lmao, so if that worked for something like RWBY then surely GOOD songs for a GOOD show like EE could do something.

Hi Jello! Something can sprang to mind was a sort of “[Character] takes over Jello’a twitter” would be fun. Like maybe different characters take over at different times and answer questions

Daniel

Smash bros tournament, all using Epithet based miis. Big publicity if u got some tubers to play. Alternatively make it a fan bracket with the best epithet mii fighters, winner wins a book.

Daniel

Or, you had that one magic the gathering video where you played magic wrong. Do one about how to read book. Even if u dont have a copy of YOUR book, you could just stick a piece of paper that says Epeethert in crayon on it

Eye Catches for the new cast are def something I'd love to see, the eye catches in season one were so good I'd hate for the new cast to miss out on them! Also a fun idea that could be done as part of the QnA Stream; reading a scene from PoP or Season one but switching the VAs of the scene around, like doing the Bar Fight but having Will Voice Percy and Sandra voice Ramsey. I think that would be fun!

TTRPG one-shot in the epithet erased world. Just get some randos, it doesn’t have to be VAs.

Anonymous

A stream where you make low effort arts-and-crafts based on the characters. Some hair marshmallows for Molly, a bat with knives taped on for Giovanni, that kind of thing

Alec

Countdown, Say No, and Great at Crime actually have lyric videos on the channel already, and I assume the full versions of Deadline and Great and Cowboy will as well once finalized.

Alec

Oh, this is actually a really fun idea. Reminds me of the "Preparedness Initiative" newsletter the devs did for Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, and it'd be *hysterical* to get something similar with simple low budget graphics while being presented in one of the characters' voices, or even the "narration tone" Brendan is using for the book. (the newsletter, for reference: https://crowscrowscrows.com/email/46/ )

skyboundyuri

would love to see the new eye-catches :] no suggestions because im uncreative but excited to finally read the book

Mhm! Oh yeah lmao, I guess I just met keeping that up would be cool. My bad haha. I think more contests like that bonsai design one would be really fun too!

Make a "Which Epithet Erased character are you (CANON) (OFFICIAL) (NO TAKESIES-BACKSIES)" uQuiz! Maybe a live reaction marathon stream of the show, not necessarily Director's Commentary as is available right now, just something casual and fun! Or interactive CYOA Twitter polls where the audience chooses how a silly little story progresses!

Hey Jello! Do you know if the audiobook will be available to gift to people? I was thinking to get my friend one for Christmas :)

Triplea11

make a intro showing all the comments askin how to buy the audio book and be fake/real angry about it
