It's Friday! Here's what I got done this week:

  • Baked the shader into a texture on the 3D model (many times)
  • Finalized the UV map a few more times
  • Began drawing in details onto the body using PaintTool SAI

Fun fact: baking this particular shader in Blender takes about 35 minutes. 35 long, long minutes to fix that one thing I forgot to fix- oh, hold on. There's something else I need to fix. :x

Yeah, it was a lot of waiting this week... But the texture is turning out wonderfully! Right now I'm delving into the details and adding in line art here, some blush there... It would be relaxing if I knew what on earth I'm doing. :D

At this rate, it won't be long before I move on to rigging, which I'm really excited about! You'd think it would've been the other way around with texturing... Textures are just my kryptonite for some reason, both in 2D and in 3D. I will say, however, that making procedural textures with shaders is gonna be something I really delve into. Shaders are really friggin' cool! They're just also really, really confusing. :P

Anyhoo, that's it for progress this week. I'm going to keep payments on Patreon paused until I've gotten my first animation up here, which may be a bit of a wait. Naturally, as I get used to the workflow things will go faster. Plus I won't be writing a journal in tandem with every action I take in Blender, so that'll make it go much faster, haha!

Right, off to Taco Bell I go. I'll see you guys again next week!
