This was not an enjoyable experience for me and I always try to find the good in things but I didn't (except that one pre chorus lol) sooo if you're going to be defensive about my points, I recommend you don't watch because I was very honest.

At the VERY least for me to like a song I need one of the following:

- A nice melodic hook sang well.

- An above average vocalist with stand out moments.

- Choreography that's especially exciting and specific to the song.

- Great music production that sounds rich with raw instrumentation and amazing mixing.

This had none of this for me and may be my least enjoyable thing I've ever reacted to AND published (the no.1 spot belongs to Highlights Killing Voice that I stopped mid day loool) and I'm curious if it's just me who had such an adverse reaction to this comeback.

I actually saw the potential in Under the skin and Scent of You. I thought they were going to be one of my favourite boy groups but they've completely lost me. I understand their wolfpack concept means they should look the same but them sounding the same as a 9 piece is not appealing to me at all but I can see why it may appeal to others.

Hope you enjoy my misery!! LOOL

2023-06-23 13:09:35 I think it's because there are so many popular BGs where the main criticism of them sounding the same applies? Like, I haven't listened to &Team beyond a playthrough of their titles, and now these here, and my first impression is that they kinda blur into the blob of BGs that don't have distinct vocalists but have decent songs. And I'm gonna say it, there are popular BGs out there as well with the same problem, though to a lesser extent because to your point &Team's vocals are particularly muffled for some reason plus for other groups there's at least 1 person who stands out (cough cough NCT Dream, Enhyphen, TXT, TBZ... throw them tomatoes at my face, I don't care lol) so it's not like &Team is particularly horrible in comparison, idk idk.

Oh and to add - it feels like an overall 4th gen trend with the boys specifically wherein companies are pushing a more "cohesive" sound, dulled edges sort of thing where you don't have obvious standouts but they work well as a group (i.e. the ones i mentioned above - I know NCT Dream isn't 4th gen but they're the same age bracket, wtv) vs 3rd gen BGs had more distinct superstars from the jump. My conspiracy theory is companies are scared of popular members leaving lol.

It’s so funny because I saw this and didn’t press play cause I assumed I’d also hate the song and I had never listened to &team before but then I saw firework on someone’s edit and said I remember Micah apparently said this was tragic let me press play and…I’m blown that it’s actually one of my favorite boy group things released this year 💀 I literally came back to watch this review. What’s funny is I don’t think I particularly disagree with this reaction but for whatever reason there’s such a strong cinematic draw to this song for me (I don’t know if I can explain it well) but I’m a filmmaker and it’s what I work in and my passion and for me this is like a perfect cinematic sound experience like I feel like I could craft a film off this song and then cut a trailer to it and it would be perfect and I think all the reasons you don’t like it is what makes it a perfect there’s nothing to distract from that sense of nostalgia and storytelling and youth. This long winded comment to say its always so fascinating what draws individuals to music and while music should predominantly be about the music there’s such other factors for people such a feeling and heart it’s just funny to see. My feelings on the song probably something the majority would not care about at all but nonetheless it’s there. Anyway this was a fun reaction because it made me laugh but also was a lesson in always trying something no matter the opinion. You’ll never know what’s not for others may be for you so actually thank you because if you didn’t have such a visceral description of this song I never would have got curious and pressed play 😂
