Hi all, just wanted to be honest and let you guys know what's going on with me recently. I usually keep my problems to myself, but this is too big to ignore.

TL;DR -- I'm in a lot of pain right now due to a cracked tooth/partially exposed nerve, so art updates might be slow for several weeks (it will NOT stop me from making art). I hope you will have patience with me while I endure this. 😔

More explanation below:

______________________________________

About a month ago, one of my wisdom teeth cracked while I was eating. It didn't hurt much for the first few weeks, but now any slight touch or pressure sends me into hours of body-wracking pain. It's so bad sometimes that I can't concentrate on anything I'm doing and it's incredibly frustrating. Ibuprofen doesn't put a dent in it, numbing gel sorta works but it doesn't stop the referred pain in the rest of my face and body. The pain also keeps me from sleeping so I am constantly exhausted. It's like being trapped in a hellish limbo.

I scheduled an appointment with a dentist right after it happened, but they called me on Friday to tell me that they don't accept my insurance and I'd have to pay out of pocket. I cancelled it like an idiot so I had to wait until Monday to schedule a new one... And I underestimated how shockingly terrible my Insurance's Preferred Provider finder is. They don't even list my type of insurance in the drop-down menu (so I had to take an educated guess as to what might be the closest thing). It's a crapshoot if I'll be able to use my insurance for this procedure at this point, so I will probably have to pay out of pocket no matter what.

My current appointment is 10 days from now. Knowing my luck, the problem is so bad that they're going to have to refer me to an Oral Surgeon and that'll take another couple weeks. So I am looking at about a month more of enduring this pain. This will inevitably hinder my art-creating capabilities, but I am determined to not let it stop me. I have a responsibility, to myself and to you, to keep working.

Thanks for reading. I hope you guys are willing to be patient while I go through this ordeal. 🥺❤️

They aren't "wisdom" teeth, they are "wisdumb" teeth. And they're the most annoying things ever.

Ahawk95

That’s terrible... as someone who has had his share of tooth issues I empathize greatly. Hang in there and get well soon. Take your time.

Take a break if ya have to, this is a medical emergency to be fair and I find it astonishing they don’t allow you to schedule sooner than Monday.

Hope they can take care of it at the first appointment

Show the tooth who's boss and gl 🥰👌

these are small clinics so they don't have websites, I have to call them and speak to the receptionists who work normal hours. Unless I'm missing something? That's possible too.

Ah yes. Dealing with insurance. My absolute favorite completely stress and anger free activity that always goes the way you expect it to

Get it resolved, dental is extremely important. Infections can be serious.

Get well soon. And fuck insurance companies and their bullshit.

It sounds utterly unbearable. You honestly should take it easier, goodness knows adding extra layers of stress to it doesn't help. Real glad I don't ever have to worry about insurance where I live, sounds like an absolute Hellscape. Plus, in an emergency like yours I'd be able to book an appointment within a day or two, sometimes the same day, at the local clinic. Seriously, though, don't stress yourself about other things, I remember getting worked up after my wisdom tooth removal only heightened the pain, I can imagine it's already several orders of magnitude worse for you without additional worry raising your pulse and coursing more pain through the area.

I know what that's like... I've had a tooth cracked to the nerve before.. It sucks. Hopefully you can get it pulled soon. *hugs*
