Hello Supporters!

Today I have an exciting preview for you of  something I've been tinkering with for a while: running Daz Studio on  Linux! This is exciting because there's no native Linux version of the  software out there. Instead, we can use the Windows version with a tool  called Wine, which can react to Windows API calls.

The ins and  outs are a little tricky, so this is not a tutorial and more of a "proof  of concept" demo. I've tried this successfully on my Steam Deck, which  runs ArchLinux (or rather SteamOS, which is based on that distribution),  and it worked so well that I wanted to try it on my workstation running  Fedora.

It's early days, GPU rendering doesn't work yet, but  everything else does - which is a giant step in the right direction. For  me as a hacker, this is dynamite news! I don't intend to make this  video public, so it's not an early access offering. Instead I'll make a  tutorial type video that explains how to install the relevant tools to  run Daz Studio on Linux when the time comes.

There are two things of note about this video:

First,  I'm using a snazzy new "glitch intro" and outro sequence. I've employed  the same intro with the Daz logo on the forthcoming Daz Bytes, of which  the first one went live today. Let me know how you like it. I'm  planning to zoosh up some of our graphical elements a little as I go  along, I guess that's the television graphics guy in me.

Second,  I'm trying out a new YouTube feature with this video. I have supporters  on three main platforms on which I share Early Access videos via the  Vimeo links (see above). Regular viewers don't know about those, unless  they browse the Patreon/Ko-fi feeds. YouTube have a special "members  only" privacy type that makes a video publicly visible, but only  viewable if someone is a channel member, and that's the option I'll try  out.

I don't know how well this will go down with regular viewers  as they may feel "cheated" (why show me something if I can't watch it,  it's all just a cash grab etc). At the same time, it may bring new  channel members and we get to test out that YouTube feature I've never  tried before. Let's file this under "interesting experiments" and see  what happens.

I hope you all enjoyed the Genesis 9 release. I hear  it's been a tad rocky with pre-order items not appearing in some  accounts (my own included). I'm going to wait a few days and see what  appears, I have a feeling the team are probably busy fixing things as I  type. Some products are still to be released, like the Head and Body  Shapes, as well as additional Expressions. I'm sure they'll drop later  this week.

Have fun, and see you tomorrow!
