Howdy friends! I've been thinking of making "closer look" type videos about 3D content for a while, sharing what a product is actually like once you've bought it. I've picked up very both positive surprises as well as serious lemons over the years, and had there been in-depth looks at such products, it would have probably saved me quite some time and cash. Here's the first one in what could possibly become a segment on my channel.

This is a quick walk-though of the DigitalLab Design Studio from the DAZ Store. I'm thinking of using it in my comic project and picked it up when it was on sale recently. While I really dig the look and feel of the props, I'm not entirely happy with the lack of work that's gone into making this set usable. This is sad because with just a little extra work, this could have been a great set. In its current state it's just a bit meh.

Let me know what you think about the idea, and how I've approached it. Let me know what might be missing and what I could add.

Enjoy!

Content Review: DigitalLab Design Studio

In this episode I'm taking a closer look at an interior set I've bought for DAZ Studio. Perhaps this helps you get a closer look at the product and show...

Dreamlab Studio

I've been spending most of my time this week fixing & preparing the 2 story home environment for the project I'm working on. I'm creating many groups of items, even nesting groups within groups to keep things organized. It's a shame the creator of this environment didn't do any of that. Another thing I do is try to create instances of objects such as the chairs and stools. Why have 15 models of the same chair. Just have 1 chair object with 14 instances. The same for the desk, computers, table decoration such as pen & pencil jars. Also, not having the sign, windows, A/C vents, and the door be separate objects is really not that great. Especially since it is such a cool looking office location.

Good point about the instancing, I hadn't thought about that. The sad thing is that these are relatively easy fixes during the development. Now, without ruining the materials for spending a ton of work, it's really difficult to implement. 😥
