I did a stream this week in which I was bringing a Mixamo animation into DAZ Studio, then export it to Marvelous Designer and animate a skirt. From there I brought the skirt animation back into DAZ Studio - and it all worked with no poke through!

There are a great many steps to the process, so I'll leave you my notes here, before I get a chance to tidy them up and expand them with screenshots on my website. My plan is to turn this into a mini series this month (before I forget how to do it again). If you have any questions, please let me know. Enjoy!

Mixamo

  • export Genesis 1 as FBX (2012 Binary)
  • import to Mixamo, pick animation
  • adjust arm width
  • export as FBX 6 WITH skin
  • import into DS (select mixamo.com NOT Animation)

DAZ Studio Import

DAZ Export / MD Import

  • export A-Pose (OBJ)
  • export first frame of animation (OBJ)
  • export animation as "MDD by Animate" (full version of aniMate2 is required)
  • import A-Posed character
  • model/add clothing

MD Animation

  • load first frame of character animation as Morph Target (OBJ)
  • load animation (MDD Cache Standard)
  • import the MDD as Z-Inverted
  • simulate animation
  • park on first frame of animation
  • export as OBJ Sequence
  • settings: single object, thin, welded

Animation Madness: Mixamo to DAZ Studio to Marvelous Designer (and back) - oh my!

Please enable JavaScript to experience Vimeo in all of its glory. In this rather complex stream I'm bringing a Mixamo animation into DAZ Studio, then export it to Marvelous Designer and animate a skirt. When finished I'll bring the skirt animation back into DAZ Studio - and it all works with no poke through!
