1,ラフ　sketch

今回は静寂さがテーマなので、構図は垂直・水平なラインを多めにし、キャラクターは三角形のシルエットを意識しました。

躍動感を表現するための工夫とは反対のことをします。

As the theme of this project is tranquillity, the composition has more vertical and horizontal lines and the characters are triangular silhouettes.

This is the opposite of what we try to express in terms of dynamism.

2,線画・下塗り　line drawing and base color

この時点でキャラクターがどのような環境にいるかが分かるように色合いを決めておきます。今回は立ち絵ではないため、光源や時間帯の設定が重要になります。

設定は「上からの光・逆光気味」「夕方」となります。

At this point, the shades should be set so that you can see what environment the character is in. As this is not a standing picture, the light source and time of day settings are important.

The settings are "light from above and backlit" and "evening".

・フォトバッシュ　photobash

今回は背景の本棚に写真を取り入れています。

写真はpixadayのフリー素材を使用しています。

This time, the photos are incorporated into the background bookshelf.

The photos are free from pixaday.

写真の一部を範囲選択で切り取り、イラストに貼り付けます。

その後、パースに合うように自由変形します。

モチーフが正面向きになっている写真を選ぶと自由変形しやすいです。

単調さを避けるため、本が同じような並び方にならないようにしました。

あまりに整然としすぎていると書店のような印象になってしまいます。今回の舞台は書店ではなく、パチュリーが入り浸っている図書館のため、そのように見えてしまうのは不本意です。

なので、本が少し倒れかけていたり、横向きになっていたりなど変化を意識することで生活感が出るようにしました。

Cut out a portion of the photo using range selection and paste it into the illustration.

Then transform it freely to fit the perspective.

It is easier to free transform a photo if you choose a photo where the motif is facing forward.

To avoid monotony, the books are not arranged in the same way.

If they are too neatly arranged, it gives the impression of a bookshop. This time, the setting is not a bookshop, but a library where she has been holed up for a long time, so I am unwilling to make it look that way.

So I tried to give it a lived-in feel by being conscious of changes, such as books that are slightly collapsed or turned on their sides.

写真を貼り付けた後、そのままだと明暗差がバラバラなので色調補正をかけます。

グレースケール化して違和感のないように明暗差を調整します。

背景は最終的にぼかしをかけるので、色味を調える程度で済ましました。

After pasting the photo, apply colour correction because the difference between light and dark is uneven as it is.

Adjust the difference in lightness and darkness so that it is grayscale and does not look out of place.

The background will be blurred in the end, so I only needed to adjust the colour tone.

3,着彩　coloring

時間帯が夕方のため、暖色系が多くなります。

全体的にピンク系の色が多いため、単調にならないよう色に幅を持たせています。

赤系～紫系までの色を使ったり、ピンクの中でも彩度の高いものと低いものを取り入れたりなどです。

背景については、キャラクターがメインなのと、最終的にぼかしをかけるため描き込みはそこまでしていません。色味や明暗差に違和感がない程度に処理しているだけです。

As the time of day is evening, there are more warm colours.

As there are many pinkish colours overall, a range of colours is used to avoid monotony.

Colours ranging from red to purple are used, and within pink there are high and low saturation pinks.

The backgrounds are not detailed because it will be blurred in the end and main focus is the characters. So the backgrounds are just processed to the extent that there is no sense of discomfort in terms of colour and differences in lightness and darkness.

窓部分とキャラクターの明暗差の対比、描き込みの疎と密の対比でキャラクターの顔に視線が向くようにしました。

The contrast between the light and dark areas of the window and the character, and the sparse and dense contrast between the drawing details, were used to draw the viewer's gaze towards the character's face.

4,仕上げ　finishing

背景のぼかしをPhotoshopのレンズぼかしでやり直しました。

このレンズぼかしの方が、カメラによるピント外ぼけに近い見た目になるためです。

今回、ポートレート写真っぽく見せたいという思いもあったので、できるだけ写真に近く見えるように加工しました。

ピント外のぼけはピントの合っている対象から離れれば離れるほど強くなるため、背景を一番強くぼかし、手前の本などは背景より弱いぼかしにしています。

人物と手前の本のぼかしについては、虹彩絞りぼかしを使用しました。このぼかし機能はピントの合う対象の周囲にぼかしをかけることができます。

The background blur was redone using Photoshop's lens blur.

The reason is that this lens blurring looks more like out-of-focus blurring by the camera.

In this case, I wanted the image to look like a portrait photograph, so I processed it to make it look as close to a photograph as possible.

Out-of-focus blur becomes stronger the further away from the object in focus, so the background is blurred most strongly and the book in the foreground is blurred less strongly than the background.

For the blurring of the person and the book in the foreground, the iris aperture blur was used. This blur function can be used to blur the area around the object in focus.
